El Capitan High School Theatre
Course Offerings
El Capitan High School Theatre is proud to offer students the opportunity to take Theatre for Actors, Technical Theatre, and Theatre Production.
Technical Theatre
Technical Theatre is where art, construction, and technology meet in big ways as students put their creative minds to work and learn the skills necessary to design and create costumes, props, sound effects, lighting schemes, set pieces, and more!
Theatre For Actors
In Theatre, students learn and build upon the foundational skills required to successfully engage in the production process as actors and ensemble members. Students learn how to utilize the actor’s tools– voice, body, and imagination– to create characters and meaningfully engage their audience in the story.
Theatre For English Language Learners
In Theatre for English Language Learners students also learn all of the skills in Theatre for Actors with additional language support in the domains of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Production
Theatre Production is for the advanced theatre student who is eager to demonstrate their mastery by participating in the production of three live performances! Throughout the rehearsal process students build on foundational skills as they prepare for their audience.
Production students have the opportunity to work closely with specialized performance experts who elevate their abilities in the domains of singing, dancing, directing, and acting. All courses offered align with California State Standards for Visual and Performing Arts.

Participation in the fall and spring shows is a requirement of the production class and accounts for a significant portion of students' grades. By signing up students are agreeing to participate in all rehearsals as part of the after school program.
The production class is only available to students who have received previous instructor approval.
